A Surprise

The morning of our anniversary, I had to go into work early. So I was tiptoeing around the house getting ready to leave just before 5am. Martin, for some reason unbeknowest to me, also got up around this time and was puttering around. I was in the kitchen putting together a quick breakfast to eat in the car and I heard the door to the downstairs open. Is Martin really doing laundry at 5 in the morning?? That was the exact thought that went through my head.

Seconds later, Martin came walking up the stairs carrying this gorgeous bouquet of anniversary flowers. He had them hidden in the basement so they would stay cool overnight! Needless to say I was more than happy. And here we are two weeks later and I haven't even given him the card I got four weeks ago.

Whoops!

My Marriage.

*On the way to state fair*

Me: Oh. Shoot. I should have brought my wedding album to show Amber. I've been wanting to show it to her because she's getting married in a barn too.
Martin: Your wedding album?? So no the truth comes out. Your wedding album. Your wedding.
Me: Ha. Sorry that's not what I meant.
Martin: Oh yeah, sure. I'm just happy I got to attend your wedding.

Whoops.

The Dulcimer

Last Monday, (labor day) we decided to go to the state fair. For some reason I was really excited about the state fair and felt like the year just could not pass by without attending (even though I haven't been in years).

When we arrived it was raining like crazy, but that didn't deter us from getting our state fair time in (aka fried food for us, lots of animals for Aubrey). We struck a lucky note immediately when a woman gave us a free ticket into the park, but came quickly down from our high when we realized there were no animals! They had left that morning! Luckily, there was still plenty of fried food. And Aubrey was having so much fun people watching, I don't think she really missed the animals.

When we entered an old agriculture building there was a line of hand carved dulcimers in the first display.

Me: Dulcimer? It seems like I've heard of the instrument before.
Martin: Yeah. You heard about it from me. Remember. When we were talking about great movie titles? The Piano. The Dulcimer. The Notebook. I know what I'm talking about, see?

Too Long

So. I didn't die. Or fall off the face of the earth. (in case you've been worried about either of those two things happening to me). I just haven't had internet for the past 10 days and it's been killing me. So I have lots of stories and pictures to update you with.

Here's a couple quick pictures from the last few weeks.
